Hello, I’m Heather Motion (Dip.Couns.), a qualified person-centred Therapeutic Counsellor working within an integrative model. I am also a qualified trauma counsellor and therefore my work is trauma-informed, and we may work to a focused model if you need to find a more stable way of being before processing traumatic experiences. I work with individuals who are over 18 years. I trained at Willows Counselling and Training Centre in Swindon, and have experience working within counselling agencies on a voluntary basis. I now offer counselling through my own private practice.
I am originally from the North-East of Scotland but have been settled in South-West Oxfordshire for many years. I came to counselling following a long career in healthcare in which I mainly worked directly with patients and understood the value of creating and maintaining trusting and supportive relationships. I have had a wide range of life experiences, providing additional insights into clients’ varied challenges.
My qualifications and professional registration
I am a Professional Registrant of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (Accredited) and a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy , subscribing to their Ethical Frameworks to provide safe and competent practice to clients. I have a post-qualification Level 6 Diploma in Trauma Counselling to further support clients who continue to experience the effects of trauma in their lives. I continue to undertake regular continuing professional development and training to increase my competence, skills and understanding of clients’ diverse experiences.
Accredited Professional Registrant National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (Acc)
Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy
My practice has been recognised by the NCPS as having demonstrated substantial post-training professional development by awarding me the higher membership category of Accredited Professional Registrant [PNCPS (Acc.)].
The NCPS acknowledged that I 'demonstrated a broad spectrum of ways of working with clients. Appreciation of Ethical considerations was evidenced and awareness of the needs of neurodivergent clients and how to work online were strengths in my submission.’
